Symbolab, the mathematicians search engine to go mobile soon, raises $1.2 million for mobile platform

This one is every mathematicians dream search engine.  Feed in complex equations and it solves them in a jiffy.  The Symbolab search engine is a must for every mathematician, scientists and students of engineering.  If you need your solutions in a second you go to Symbolab.  Other search engines giving out equations search use the LaTex, a document mark up language which is same as keywords often giving poor results.

What makes Symbolab different is that it  uses proprietary machine learning algorithms to provide the most relevant search results that are theoretically and semantically similar, rather than visually similar. In other words, it does a semantic search, understanding the query behind the symbols, to get results.

Now the Symbolab is looking to expand into the mobile space because most of its users are students of engineering and wannabe scientists.  To make use of the mobile space, it has garnered support and money from the likes of  Michael Queen – former CEO of Harel Finance and Sprint Investment House, as well as other angels from the UK investment world.

The Symbolab search engine makes the scientific content universally accessible, and it does so by expanding the search space data on scientific symbols, expressions, equations and formulae. The platform developed by Symbolab is the very first search engine to allow users to search for explanations and solutions of various mathematical equations and exercises using a general learning algorithm that improves upon itself with every query.

When you first visit Symbolab homepage, the first thing you will notice is the keypad which company calls the ‘Scientific Pad’, The Scientific Pad is a layout of the kinds of advanced function symbols you would find on a scientific calculator.  If you are into engineering you should head there right now and check out the various functions offered by Symbolab.

While we are on the subject of search engines please check out the Izik search engine for tablets  and the Facebook Graph Search.
