Tencent Technology Co., has updated its free Text and voice messaging App called WeChat. This update makes speaking to friends and groups possible though it is a bit of clumsy affair, it is a la walkie talkie. WeChat now allows you to use the App for live voice chat, back up your chat history and use QR codes to invite new friends.
The ‘Live Voice Chat’ feature enables you to chat with a group of friends in a walkie talkie fashion with one touch action. Tencent Technology Co, revealed that the app now functions quite like a walkie-talkie: only one person can speak at a time, but everyone can hear.
However WeChat is popular for the Group Chat feature, which also recieved a update with Whatsapp type backup and restore feature added to it. This feature lets you back up and restore your talks if you have lost your phone or bought a new one. You can also generate a unique QR Code for your group, which can then be used to invite new friends. iOS users can even use search within the App.
Dennis Hau, Head of Product Centre, International Business Group, Tencent, said that the app’s tweaked user interface makes it easier for friends to be discovered and recommended. “The new update is part of our endeavour to delight our users with the most innovative and best available mobile messaging options. The new Live Chat feature has been introduced based on user feedback and we believe it will be a great hit among users.
