Disable the "Seen" Feature to prevent being seen on Facebook

Prevent others from knowing that you have read their messages; use disable the "Seen" feature on Facebook

You receive a message on Facebook. You read the message and later realize that you should have not read it. However, it is too late as the person who has sent the message is aware that you have seen it. And they most likely are waiting impatiently and desire to be answered as early as possible.
Prevent others from knowing that you have read their messages; use disable the "Seen" feature on Facebook

However, you can avoid this tricky situation. The remedy to this is 'Facebook Unseen', a Chrome extension that hides the seen message from the person who has sent it. This will excuse you for not answering the message, as you have not seen it yet.

The extension also enables you to choose to mark the messages as read, in the event you want to reply back.

From the time Facebook introduced this feature a few years ago, users have expressed their displeasure regarding this feature. However, the social website not only decided to retain it despite the negative reviews, but neither did they give the option to turn it off either.

Although Chrome is the most known extension, however, there are other ways to disable the privacy-invading feature too. One of them is another Chrome add-on feature known as Facebook Chat Privacy. This add-on feature can be downloaded from Chrome Webstore.
For users, who don't use Chrome, there is another extension available which works well with several browsers, and it is called Social Reviver. This extension not only allows you to disable the above-mentioned feature, but it also allows you to go back to some of the old Facebook functions.

However, there is a glitch though. The negative side to most of the add-ons available for download is that it will not allow you to see if someone has read your message either.
Therefore, before you decide to use any of these measures, you need to decide what is more important for you: to not let others know that you are ignoring them or getting to know that someone is ignoring you on Facebook.
