Google today pulled the plug on the web sharing platform Picasa Web Albums. The website picasaweb.google.com redirects you to your album page on Google +. This may be another nail in the coffin for Picasa and a huge impetus for Google Plus.
This has to be done only once and a cookie diables the custom redirect. So the next time you type in picasaweb.google.com you will go directly the picasa web album page . However the Google is serious about its overall integration with Google Plus and may slowly pull the plug on Picasa Web. Another point worth noting is that Google Plus is already giving fight to Facebook on the social networking front, with more and more new users opting for Google Plus. It has also started many new features like hangout etc. which are very popular with the today's youth. The only reason for Picasa being kept alive it that Picasa is better because it still packs more photo features than does Google+. So Google may be keeping Picasa alive just long enough for it to integrate it into Google+ Album.
So what happens to your Blogger photos and what will be the limitations. Earlier the Photos uploaded on Blogger would be saved in Picasa Web Album and there was a limit of 1GB on the space. With Google Plus, I imagine there wont be any limit to the album size at it includes you profile, post and blogger photos.
Whats you take on this issue, please let me know.
