Ever wanted to make a free phone call or video call to your friends and make it last for hours. Video calling is possible through Skype but voice calling has been around with limited options. Facebook has now let the iPhone users to call their friends on iPhone free with its updated iOS version 5.5.
Facebook, which released the iOS update version 5.5 earlier this week has included the free calling feature in its Messenger App. With the Messenger App you can make a call or receive a call over the 3G/LTE or wi-fi connection. This has limitations which can be surpassed easily. The first limitation is that both caller and receiver should have a iPhone and the second one is that both phones should have the Facebook version 5.5 on their phones.
Once you have these two in place the calling procedure is as simple as it gets. Launch the Facebook App and open the Messenger contact list.
Open the conversation of the friend you want to call and press the As you can see in the video above, placing a call is simple "i" icon you see there. IF your friend is using the latest version of the Facebook on his or her iPhone, the 'Free Call' button will bcome highlighted. Tap the button to enjoy your free call.
Remember, if the 'Free Call' option doesn't get highlighted that your friend is not using the updated App.
To get the updated App from Apple Store click this link. This feature is not possible on iPad. Please post your experience with the free calling feature of Facebook.
