Until now the App Store had many iPad Apps that let you view, edit or create documents but each had their own cost. Now Readdle has come out with a App which is free and very versatile.
Documents by Readdle is first and foremost a Document viewer, there it displays any number of document types including *.doc, *.docx(Word), *.ppt, *.xls(Excel spread sheet), *.txt, *.pdf etc. Though it lets you edit only text files, almost all files can be searched and bookmarked. You can highlight and underline the pdf files or expand the zip files with this App.
The versatile App also lets you create folders, view documents by type, size, date or name. The App can also be synced with iCloud, Dropbox, SugarSync, Google Drive, SkyDrive, Box among others.
You can log on to a FTP site and you can open many email attachments with this file. Get your documents into iPad via iTunes through USB cable or Wi-Fi).
You can create and save a text document just by tapping "Edit" and then choosing the "Create Text" option. And the App is password protect also, so if you save your personal details you can always lock them up.
Ebooks can be read as well in .epub format. The App has a integrated web browser, this allows you to read the content online or download the file for viewing later in html or pdf format as per your choice.
The beauty of App is it can also play different media files in the App. Mp3, avi, jpeg, mp4 etc open with ease. You may try to open other formats, and you will be surprised to see them opened by the App.
There only two dis-advantages from this must have App, one is you can't edit Word or Excel from this App and the other is, it is available for iPad and iPad mini only. No support as of yet for iPhone.
Readdle may correct these two point soon, but all in all I thought this App was brilliant and is a must have for all iPad owners.
