Earn a credit for your Degree, online with Coursera

Earn a credit for your Degree, online with Coursera.

Though online teaching has been a accepted and durable option, as of today no one had offered any degrees or accredited the online learning process.  Now that is to change with Coursera.  In its blog today, Coursera gave out listing of courses it will offer degrees and accreditions.

Coursera today said that it will offer five courses which will enable student to gain Credits from The American Council on Education’s College Credit Recommendation Service (ACE CREDIT).

Students who complete the said courses will be able to apply their credits for a college degree given that ACE CREDIT has over 2000 institutions listed with it.

The five courses approved for college credit recommendation include four undergraduate credit courses:
•Pre-Calculus from the University of California, Irvine
•Introduction to Genetics and Evolution from Duke University
•Bioelectricity: A Quantitative Approach from Duke University
•Calculus: Single Variable from the University of Pennsylvania
•Developmental math vocational credit recommendation—Algebra from the University of California, Irvine.

Though this is the beginning this may open flood gates for the education sector and also be a very good thing for students with variety of online options available.

If you are a student and want to receive credits for your Degree, this is the place to go.  Kindly check out the fee structure before applying.  Visit Coursera Blog for further details.

Hope this article has helped you, please post your comments.
