Its official, the Samsung today reported that it will stop developing its Bada Operating System and start manufacturing phones based on Tizen Operating System. With the Bada gone, Tizen will be interoperative systems which means that Tizen will be able to run the Apps and Games built for Bada architecture.
The Tizen is based on the Nokia and Intel's MeeGo. MeeGo was considered by developers and modders to be the best multi tasking OS at that time. The Tizen phones will be able to run Apps designed for Bada devices but it won't be able to upgrade your current Bada based Wave phone to Tizen.
Samsung's Media Solutions Center President said that commented that, "Rather than seeing this as a straightforward merger, it's better to view it as a transition to a better service,"
Samsung will launch the 1st phone based on Tizen in the coming months and plans to launch atleast couple of phones based on Tizen by the end of this year. With Mozilla and Ubuntu already waiting in the wings with their OS, it will be an interesting cat fight in the OS market for the top position.
Please post your comments on the above development.
