Protecting the data on your Smart Phone

Protecting the data on your Smart Phone
This is perhaps  the best mobile protection software I have had.  I got it free from Nokia in 2008, since then I am a regular user of WaveSecure.  This is a handy app which can lock the phone and wipe the data on the phone remotely by using website of WaveSecure.

I started using WaveSecure initially to backup by SMS and contacts, but once I lost my Nokia 5800 and was very apprehensive about the safety of my data.  I went to their website and gave instructions to lock the phone and send out alarm.  I had actually forgotten my phone in my trouser pockets and it started emitting high pitched alarms.
That was when I realised the beauty of this app.  I have recommended this app to many of friends.
In a normal mode you can backup your SMS, contacts, call logs and contents.  Backing up Call logs has its own advantages like the phone only saves a certain number of calls received in its log.  So when you receive a important call from a number not saved in you mobile contacts list, it gets over written over time by the new calls coming in.  The call log from WaveSecure is a good tool to retrieve the lost phone number in case this happens.
And  when you lose your phone you can remotely lock it, wipe the data and send out a alarm.  Plus it detects a foreign SIM if the same is inserted into your phone and sends out a message to a buddy(whose number you have register).   You can restore your data back in case you find your phone.
Another big advantage is you can lock your phone when you are not using it and have to keep it away from you(for charging etc.).  No one except you can open the phone(you have to input the pin number).  The Pin Number is your password both for the phone and to the WaveSecure website, where you can do all the above stuff.
A real beauty.
Go to Wavesecure Homepage and give it a try.  Its available for trial.
Alternatively go here for Android, here for Blackberry, here for Symbian, here for Windows Mobile, here for iOS.  There is a java handset version here.
There is no WaveSecure as of now for Windows Phone but I am sure McAfee will be launching one pretty soon.   Read here about taking care of your wet phone.
