Falling to lure of Indian market Samsung launches Dual Sim phone

Samsung has fallen prey to the demands of Indian customers and launched a dual SIM in the high version smart phone.

Samsung, known for its good marketing strategy is going in for a kill in India, by launching a dual SIM smart phone in India, called the Samsung Grand Dual SIM.  The phone was launched yesterday in New Delhi at a price of Rs.21,500.00.

The specs of Grand are :
  1. 5 inch TFT Touchscreen
  2. 1.2. GHz Dual Core CPU
  3. Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system
  4. 8 MP rear camera and 2 MP front camera
  5. Allshare Play, Popup Video

Samsung has called this phone Smart dual SIM.  But let me remind the readers that in a dual SIM phone the second SIM is in a perpetual standby mode.  Which mean if you are using SIM1 the calls recieved on SIM2 are forwarded to SIM1.  This is, according to me unfeseable in the long run. There are also other issues with 2 SIM like messaging, internet etc which have not been addressed by any manufacturer.  IT IS ALSO WORTH NOTING THAT SAMSUNG HAS PUSHED AHEAD WITH THE LAUNCH OF THIS PHONE ONLY IN INDIA.

However, Samsung is convince that this phone will work in India, so let watch.  At Rs.21500.00 it is better to go for Tab or HTC high end versions instead of the Dual SIM Grand.  My bet is Grand will fail to interest buyers, as typically dual SIM phone buyers are in the sub 10000.00 category.  You can read my article on buying a good phone for you and your near and dear ones here.
