#ComeCloser to Radiant Skin with Ayurveda

Every individual, be it a man or a woman, desires to look good. Today there are a lot of beauty and skin care products available in the market; however besides being expensive these cosmetics may also bring about some side effects which can be really bad in the long run.

On the other hand, Ayurveda provides some age old remedies which has been tested and proved to be safe. Our grandmas used to stick to some of the age old herbal remedies to maintain a radiant skin.

Ayurveda basically advises a simple three way method of cleansing, nourishing and moisturizing the skin.

Cleansing :

Take equal parts of chickpea flour and dry milk powder, mix it and take 2 teaspoon of this mixture and make a thin paste by adding little water. Scrub with this paste on wet skin, rinse and pat dry.

Nourishment and Moisturizing includes using different oils:

Coconut oil is the best nourishment for any type of skin. It is essential that one indulges in self massage or gets a professional massage with coconut oil atleast every fortnight. Massaging helps to provide luster and radiance to the skin and also removes ‘doshas’ as it purifies, nourishes and helps in toning the body at a much deeper cellular level.

This method not only helps to nourish but also provides adequate moisture to the skin.

Our grandmas were much knowledgeable and they used some of the extremely useful facial packs to enhance their beauty:
Turmeric

This is one of the best ayurvedic ingredient which has anti bacterial as well as anti-inflammatory properties and which really helps when ingested as well as when applied on the skin. Due to its microbicidal properties it acts to combat the problems of pimple and acne. It is a very rich  source of antioxidant and hence helps to fight the signs of ageing as well.

Skin care regime using Turmeric:

Use it as an exfoliation: Mix equal amount of turmeric, buttermilk, tomato juice and rub it softly on the skin, this mixture helps to exfoliate the skin as well as fights against signs of ageing.
For smoother texture and an even look mix turmeric and honey and apply, this reduces the pore size of the skin and gives the desired result.
Blackhead issue: Make a paste by taking 2 teaspoon of mint juice and turmeric powder. Apply it directly to blackheads and let it air dry. Wash with lukewarm water.
Suffering from stretch mark: Mix  turmeric and yoghurt and apply on the marks to lighten it.
Burn marks: Prepare a paste of  turmeric and mustard oil and apply it on the burnt area this gives a soothing relief from burns and also helps to reduce the burn marks.

Cucumber:

Another handy product from the kitchen is cucumber. Besides being a cooling agent this natural ingredient can also help in preventing dark spots, acne and pimples.

Skin care regime using Cucumber:

Make a cucumber paste by peeling and cutting it and then grinding it in a mixer. Do remember to remove the seeds before grinding. Now add one cup of oats, four teaspoon of milk and two teaspoon of honey to this cucumber paste. Mix all ingredients and apply it your face. Once it gets dried wash it from your face. Use this method every alternate day and see the results.

Besides external skin care, Ayurveda also believes in a strict inner balance of body for cultivating a glowing skin. This can be achieved by proper balanced diet, regular exercise regime, adequate sleep and meditation. Over a period of time inner beauty is the one which shows and enhances overall beauty of a person.

However, if you dont want to go into the regimen of making all the above stuff at home, you can try out the ready made Vicco Turmeric Cream. It has all the ingredients mentioned above plus more to keep your skin soft and radiant. Vicco has been in my family for eons and has been the secret potion for my mum's and my radiant skin.
