The Top Laptop maker Dell today announced a sub $500.00 tablet based on Windows 8. The name formally announced by Dell for this tablet is Latitude 10 Essentials.
The Latitude Essentials 10 will be available by June 2013 and is expected to be priced at Rs.27000.00 (excluding taxes). It will be based on Windows 8 platform and will be available only in 32 GB version. This will be a no frill version of Windows 8. However Dell believes that it doesn't matter as the tablet is primarily aimed at students.
The Dell has achieved to price the tablet below $500.00 by removing the active digitizer that supports digital inking in full version Windows 8 Tablet. And the batteries in Latitude will be non-removable, which means you can't change the batteries.
Without the above, all other specifications remain the same as the full version Windows 8 model which are Intel Atom Z2760 1.8 GHz Processor, 2 GB Ram, 10.1 inch IPS screen with 1366 x 786 resolution, 10 finger multitouch keypad and Corning's Gorilla Glass.
Not a bad deal. Though you can go for the Pro version of 64 GB which starts at $600.00(Rs.33000.00)
