Indian Government raises LPG cylinder cap to 9 per year

Indian Government raises LPG cylinder cap to 9 per year

Government today raised the annual limit cap on LPG cylinders to 9 per year (Financial Year).    The goods news is middle class families across India will get 3 more cylinders per year at the subsidised price of Rs.410.50 per bottle + local taxes applicable.  The bad news is the cap is here to stay.
However the most important part which the Government sources failed to address was what about the people who had exceeded the 6 cylinder cap and had purchased the cylinders at MARKET RATE upto today.

I searched the web for answer to above question but there was none available.  Is the Government going to repay the individuals who paid the market rate or is the loss to be borne by the individual, nobody knows.

However readers may kindly ensure that they have their AADHAAR Card ready before March, 2013, as the indications are that all future subsidy payments will be made through AADHAAR linked bank accounts only.  Kindly click the AADHAAR hyperlink to read my tutorial for downloading AADHAAR card if you already have enrolled for it and have not received delivery of the card.

Those who have not enrolled for the same may search for the nearest enrolment centre here.  Remember the difference between a subsidised cylinder and market rate one is Rs.490.00 per cylinder which is huge!

Kindly post your comments/suggestions regarding the above.
