Detox iOS and Android Apps for Mind, Body and Soul Part 3

Detox iOS and Android Apps for Mind, Body and Soul Part 3
As promised in my earlier blogs on Detox Part 1 and Part 2, today I bring to you some apps for Android and iOS which are essentially advanced Yoga training exercises.
Yoga in advanced form is called Hatta Yoga which mean literally forced Yoga.  This is different from Raj Yoga which is taught through the apps below.  A Raj Yoga can be practised by any body but a Hatta Yoga needs to practised under proper guidance from Yogi.
The below are Raj Yoga exercises which are very easy to follow and very good at maintaining your health and metabolism.
Yogic Breath for iOS.  This app costs around $1.99 (Rs.110.0)  and is compatible with iPhone and iPad.  This app teaches you to the advanced Yoga practises of Anuloma Viloma (breath in breath out to alternate nostrils).  The app uses video, audio and written instructions on how to use these techniques.  No Internet connection is required for this app.
The app also includes 10 minutes exercises for specific issues like stress relief and anger  management and sleep aid.  It also allows users to set up reminders for exercise directly to the iPhone calendar.

Though the above app is not available for Android a similar one can be found in Google Play
Yoga Pranayama for Android.  This one is free and is not as versatile as the above one but it gives very key information about the importance of breathing and techniques for learning Anuloma Viloma.

If you need a more exhaustive exercise then you should head to
Universal Breathing : Pranayam.  This one costs about $5.50 (Rs.300.00) and is much more exhaustive.  The publishers have mentioned that it cures a person of
1) Migraines
2) High Blood Pressure
3) Depression
4) COPD
5) Asthma
6) Improves overall stamina and fitness.
I can't vouch for any of that as I suffer from none at this moment.  But the interface looks very calming and pleasing and has 5 different music modes for you to choose.  It also does the counting on your behalf.
The Publishers have noted that you should download a Free trial version first to check out the compatibility issues.

Next one though is a little bit costly it is called iPranayama and is available for $10.00 (Rs.550.00) and for iPhone and iPad.  This apps takes the techniques you learnt via above apps forward.  It give you audio and visual cues so you can practise as per you standard, i.e. novice, beginner, student, yogi or guru levels.  Each breathing routine can be adjusted for skill level and length. Unlike previous apps, iPranayma only includes the very basic coaching. You need previous experience to use this app as it includes Kapal Bharati which is a difficult exercise.

As iPranayama is not available for Android, I am listing a complete different Yoga app called the Yoga for All.  This one is free and teaches you the 55 different Asana or Pranayams.  As mentioned above this is a advanced Yogic exercise app, so you have learn the basic breathing methods first.

  1. I have just started yoga instructor training, and I find this app very helpful and simple to use. Even my yoga teacher was impressed with this app.
