'Ask the Chief Privacy Officer' launched by Facebook to address privacy concerns

'Chief Privacy Officer for Facebook, CPO to address privacy concerns

After proposing a settlement of Class Action suit for infringement of User rights with its 'Sponsored Stories' advertisement feature for $20 million, Facebook seems to have taken the PRIVACY issue pretty seriously.

The social networking giant Facebook's privacy settings are more than complex to a ordinary user which has raised concern in many quarters.  Facebook seems to have finally acknowledged this fact by launching a new service called 'Ask Our Chief Privacy Officer (CPO) .  The CPO will help users with their privacy settings concerns and explaining Facebook's Privacy Policy.

Users have to Click on 'Ask Erin' feature and fill a form on the Facebook's Privacy Page to address your privacy concerns and Facebook's CPO Erin Egan will address their queries once a month.

Explaining why the service was started, Eric wrote in her first note,

“At Facebook, we work hard to build and maintain your trust. We understand that you’ll want to share on Facebook only if you trust us to protect the privacy and security of your information. We also understand that issues about privacy can be complex given the fast-moving nature of technology and that you have questions about privacy.”

This is the latest development in the privacy space by Facebook after it had opened up voting system for users, earlier, whenever policy changes were made.

Hope now there will be some private privacy on Facebook with Erin around.  Already a study conducted by Researchers has found out that the likes you make may reveal more then your identity. Read about it here
