Tons of requests later, Twitter has finally decided to let you download your own tweets.
Twitter has started rolling out the download tweet option as per the website thenextweb.com. This should come as no surprise as Twitter CEO Dick Costolo had promised this feature last month.
You have to go to twitter settings, scroll down to "Your Twitter Archive" and select down all tweets right from the first one you made God knows when.
Twitter user Navjot Singh was one of the first users to experience the download option and he has given a brief blog explaining the process alongwith with the email recieved from twitter.
"Twitter informs that they will mail you the download link when the archive is ready. Yes, its just like how Facebook’s archive system works. Once you get the mail and download it you will get a zip file with archive in html form. Extracting it and you will see all your tweets sorted in calendar format"email recieved by Navjot singh
e Singh offers this screenshot of the archive’s interface: Singh has sent HTML file that opens to display a page similar in layout to Twitter’s own website. It allows you to browse your tweets by month, and search the complete archive
Further comments from users have been recieved as the data can be recieved in CSV as well as JSON files, the latter complete with twitters meta data.
So guys happy tweeting and then for remembering what your tweets were.
UPDATE: Twitter has confirmed that it is currently testing the ability to download tweets with “a very small percentage” of users.
